COMPUTER FOR SENIORS

Most of us have a chance to use computers in our daily life but are awed by the feeling that it may be too complex and learning them too difficult at this age. You could not be more wrong. Today’s computers have been made so easy to use that a normal 5 year old can use them and unless you are very unlucky, you cannot damage anything easily, untill you get angry and bang your computer on the floor. To start working on the computer you just have to switch on the power- just like you switch on the fan.
Many Seniors Citizens are today using their computers and are on emails and surf the net regularly. And at least three have written books using computers, because it becomes so easy. We know of a senior citizen, 80 years old, who, due to an accident could not use his right hand, keeps in regular contact with his son in USA. He is very enthusiastic using his computer.

As seniors what are the important needs of our life:

  1. Good health
  2. Keeping in touch with our family and friends.
  3. Companionship
  4. Intellectual stimulation
  5. Satisfying our creative urge for which we may not have got a chance earlier
  6. An easier way to do many simple jobs.

Of course you will point out many more. But let us examine how computers can help you fulfil many of these needs in an easy manner.

  1. Good health. You have to consult doctors and take your medicines. But sometimes your doctor may not take the time to explain things fully. You can go to the internet and learn all about your health problems, what to avoid, what to do. You can read up about the reactions of medicines that you are taking and so be on your guard.
  2. Keeping in touch with your family and friends. Nowadays the art of writing letters is almost lost. So we easily lose touch with friends, and keep in touch with close family members through the phone. But with the email, you can keep in touch with everybody you love or his family, friends, even acquaintances, without time lag, easily and without any cost. Many of you may be having children abroad, or even in distant cities in India. Sending them an email and getting a response possibly within minutes is a very satisfying experience. You can even telephone most countries for free if you talk over the net – and with your children, you can do it on video where you look at each other while talking. All for free.
  3. Companionship. Even if you are a very social person, and meet your friends regularly, you may still need a computer for this purpose. You have social websites, where you can make friends, discuss things, share your sorrows and joys. All while sitting at home, and at no cost. This can be particularly useful, if you are unwell.
  4. Intellectual stimulation. You want to fire your mind. Read up on your favourite topic – whatever it is. If it is reading. Many books are available for reading on the net without paying anything. Is it painting, sculpture, photography. Go to the best galleries and view the works of your favourite artists – paintings, sculptures photographs - -anything. One of the ladies once wanted to see the original Mona Lisa. You can see her. If fond of gardening, you can read up about how to rear plants of any variety etc. You can read almost any magazine on the internet without having to buy it – or any newspaper. Want to read Pakistani newspapers. They are there on the net and so are many US and UK newspapers.
  5. Creative urge. Want to write stories, articles, poems or sing songs. You can do so on blog sites. You can comment on political happenings if you like to and you will be surprised at how many read what you have written, or hear your songs and comment on it. And you can make friends with others of the same interests without revealing your identity if you don’t want to.
  6. An easier way to do many chores. Lastly you all must be knowing that you can do a lot of banking work on the internet- check your accounts, print out your statements, order cheque books, stop payment of cheques etc. You can pay most bills – electricity, telephone, mobile etc on line.

CONCLUSION; In conclusion, I would like to say that for a senior citizen, learning the use of a computer is not an option but a necessity. A computer empowers you to lead a fuller and more useful life. You may be surprised, after you start using computers.

LEADERSHIP

India is passing through a phase of development in practically all fields of life, namely; agriculture, manufacturing, commerce & trade, banking & insurance and power. The growth in most of these areas is exponential and requires personnel who are highly trained in their fields of operations. Much development and progress is taking place in the areas of political developments, public administration, judiciary and even defence. The progress in every sector has to keep pace with the international developments and intra-social progress world wide.

The country therefore needs leaders in every field who are not only experts, knowledgeable, good administrator and it is equally vital that they should have vision and foresight, while making plans and chalking out schemes in the areas of their activity. This requires leadership qualities that are not only visionary but also pragmatic and realistic to ensure that their plans are fruitful for the nation and bring about changes that will lead the nation to have an international image and prosperity comparable to the other countries.

Often you will hear leaders are born and not made. This fact, however, is controversial and subject to a view point which itself is questionable. Leadership in different sectors requires different type of qualities though fundamentally the focus would point to operational effectiveness of any and every organization. Leaders in the Army, Navy and Air force have to be bold, courageous, should have a high degree of patriotism and organizing capability combined with the art of man management. Similarly in the other fields a leader should be able to lead and guide by personal example, foresight, and excercise appropriate delegation of authority. Nonetheless a leader can not and should not let the organization to move on its own. It is an incumbent on him to prepare successful second line of leaders/managers, groom them for higher positions so that they can take the organization to higher heights when the need arises. This can be achieved through specialized and focused leadership programmes by training them with the latest and advanced soft skills, interpersonal and interactive learning programmes as well as developing a multifaceted, goal oriented and motivated workforce.

Leaders have certain qualities which are prominent in some but others may possess them in small measures. Leadership is a potent force which can light the path of many and the nation as a whole. But remember there are few qualities that distinguish good leaders from autocrats or dictators. A good leader leads you by making the national goal as your message combined with your values and your aspirations. The good leader must possess vocational integrity and excellence even though he may be physically week. For example Gandhi was a timid and a weak person. Similarly, Mother Terasa was a simple and fragile and humble person. These leaders had a cause which bursts into flames and spread their mission worldwide.
Leaders should be firm and must not compromise with the values they cherish and the principles they promote or the ideals they aim for. Firmness does not mean inflexibility and hard headiness. Therefore the leaders would perform much better if they are firm but flexible.

The leaders generally do not have enough time to the tasks at their hand, but while their busy, they should not forget to communicate with the fellow human beings and should take time to interact with the near and dear ones, enjoy their company or a joke with them.

Some leaders are generally egoistic and arrogant and lack humility. They always impose their authority without giving heed or caring to listen the viewpoint of their subordinates. This quality makes a leader unpopular.

Therefore the success, power and position enjoyed by a leader should on the contrary make him humble, virtuous and in grained with humility which should be his touch stone.

CAREER ENHANCEMENT : PART V

CAREER ENHANCEMENT
Everyone dreams and desires success in life. To be successful in life there are no time proven mantras. However, there are some basic fundamental factors and principles that govern success. An individual may be successful in one stream but can totally fail in an other sphere. And the individual would be considered successful if he has grown in his career, has a happy family life, contributed to the welfare of society and upholds the ethical values of our culture. The successful should never be measures by monitory gains and financial strength.

The success in ones profession has much impact on your life. It is possible to succeed in career by following a few single laws. The first and foremost is to set a Goal for yourself. The goal should be realistic and based on a pragmatic assessment of your own ability, weaknesses and shortcomings; while judging yourself try and have a rational understanding of your capabilities.
Once you have set a goal for yourself, you should fire yourself with an intention and desire to achieve the goal. You must possess an innate urge and energy to harness all resources to reach the target. Whatever it takes away from your intention and path chosen by you, is negative and must be discarded at all times and at every cost.

The next step is never to take any easy path. Success is always initially riddled with hurting circumstances and you may give up the race. You need to rely on strengths and have a belief in yourself. Cultivate a confidence and say, “Nothing is impossible” and “you can do it”. While pursuing your goal it is imperative to hone and polish your skills, communication and strategic marketing of your ideas and plans to your equals and subordinates. This will also require diplomatic and tactful approach with your superiors. While managing people it requires an open approach, teamwork and a unique belief in the Espirit-De-Corps.
The last element for success is to have unflinching faith in purpose of life which you have to achieve by dedication & devotion.

Five Important Rules in Website Design

Five Important Rules in Website Design

What is website? Our mind started thinking, somebody say It is the collection of information, some say its online service in which you can store your database, some say you can download songs, video songs, games etc.

But actually it is nothing but collection of information (text), media. It is needed hosting space but i am not going to discuss about what website is. I am here to discuss Five Important rules to design website.

First step is to choose your niche, according to niche choose and buy domain, then purchase the hosting space.

1. Prepare content

First as you started website designing you have to design the layout and all that, but when you going to publish your website's content. For content you have to prepare content of the website. For content you should write or get it written from others. Be sure to copy the content from other site. It harms your website traffic. It is very useful information I reveal. When your website is listed in various search engines, the search engine's algorithm dislikes the copy-paste content. So, be assuring about website content. At any case you never use the copy right content or content from other sites.

2. Banner Advertisement should not be used.

You should not use more Banner Advertisement in your website. It is the time of Smart people, every smart people ignore that. Search engine also ignore this. You can use text links instead of banner.

3. Easy to use website i.e. Sitemap

Design the website such like that anyone can use your website easily. They can navigate the full website easily. For that Use Sitemap, this can help to easy navigate the full websites.

4. Links

Search the most important links from the internet matching to your niche. Use those links in your website. Everyone go to your website but if do not stay there, this Search Engine's Algorithm does not like. So make your website most useful with links.

5. Choose Affiliate

Now you have to decide the affiliate links from which you can earn more. Choose such links which give more earning and configure that affiliate links to your site, so that you can earn from your website too. It is part time earning for you.

Enjoy Earning

Thanks

Directory Listing of Websites

Directory Listing of Websites

The topic is might be new for someone who does not know about Yahoo Directory.

This is actually a Web Directory. I am not going to discuss more about that. You know well.

Yahoo provide two types of Directory Submission, first is Standard Listing which is free, in which there might be possibility to list. Another one is Paid submission where you have to make payment for review process.

Sometimes it happens that you listed your product and it was not placed in the category you requested.

All product and services has been reviewed when placing in yahoo directory. It depends upon the Yahoo's Subject Editors where he has to place the site in rests of subjects.

When i was new to this i does not know about that exactly. Right now i have some websites which is listed in Yahoo, DMOZ Directories.

For our information there are some others sites like DMOZ, JOENT

Yahoo and Open Directory Project is the two rivals in size.

Open Directory Project means I am talking about DMOZ original name is directory.mozilla.org. Its owner name you know Netscape. It is also a very big directory services. if your website is listed in DMOZ too. It is very big deals for us.

Once your site is listed in these directories, your affiliate earning will be increased. If your website gets more traffic from GOOGLE, it will start giving traffic from yahoo too.

In Last, if you want your website would be also listed in these directories so you should design your website like that. Website's content should be unique. If your website content would be unique, the search engine' crawler will like that and you would get organic traffic from that. Then you will be eligible to list your website to those directories.

Thanks
